I heard a loud train noise approaching my house area. I was upstairs, and for over 10 minutes the sound keep coming and getting louder and was starting to vibrate my house.

I was immediately scared and thought it could be a tornado because it had been raining since 4:30 p.m. When I looked out the window and looked up, I saw very low clouds moving fast and a gigantic blimp came down through the cloud and starting to lose altitude about 50 feet over my roof. I could see the bottom cab portion so well that, if the pilot had stuck his head out, I would known what color hair he had.

I immediately grabbed both my phones, headed downstairs to my 83-year-old mother and literally pulled her out of the house while dialing 911. I could not even hear myself talking to them. I told them to get that thing away from residential area and my house and land it now, and get it out of the air because it was losing altitude right over my house and he was not moving for over 10 minutes, and where was our radar?

The blimp starting moving after laboring and staying over house for over 15 minutes. It went northwest and then turned completely left, exposing "GOODYEAR," the size of about two  billboards. The blimp was gigantic.

My local police did not come or 911 call back afterwards, so I figured it was grounded. Then I read on YouTube that he continued on and was seen farther south. He had been flying through rain for over 2 hours in a storm under already low clouds.

I called Goodyear, and the FAA, and Wingfoot LK Airship Corporation on Oct. 16. I am upset that this is allowed to happen. Blimps have no right to be in the air during a rain storm -- especially 2 hours into it -- and should be trying to pass over open space instead of a residential area when in trouble under already low, heavy rain clouds.

I was told by the FAA they have to have permission from ground crew to land and that is even if it's an emergency. I feel if someone has an emergency in the air you do not direct him to stay near residential houses; you tell them to hover in a safe zone. This needs to be looked into before something bad happens someday or  other people could be put in the same possible danger.

The blimp had a white star, with a point pointed forward toward the nose, on a blue circle with two white rectangles, perpendicular to the axis of the blimp, and a blue surround and a red stripe through the white rectangles, positioned toward the nose, forward of the gondola.   There was US Navy was written on the sides, and smaller US Navy was written on the tail undersurfaces  The blimp was traveling in a northerly direction.

It was a sunny day, with some summer storm clouds beginning to build, and I was hanging some laundry on the porch to dry. We have several ultralight planes that fly nearby, so when I first heard it I thought it was one of them. After a few minutes, I realized the noise was just not the same, so I went out in the yard to see what it was. \

I saw a blimp with a red belly directly overhead. I could tell that the sides were colored and there was white lettering. Because it was directly overhead, I could not read the name on the side. It was traveling almost due east, and I was able to watch it until it disappeared over the mountain. Too bad I couldn't read the name on the side or find any pictures of it, so I could know where it was going and if it was coming back this way.

This is not the first time a blimp has passed over us, but it also doesn't happen very often.

I was alone working in my backyard vegetable garden.  It was warm, breezy and sunny and the sky was clear. I don't recall any clouds.  I heard what I thought was a distant but soft sounding helicopter.

When I looked up I saw the left side of an all white blimp clearly marked "US Navy" or slowly approaching my house going in a northeasterly direction.  I felt as if it was flying at a low altitude because it was so large.

As it was moving, I thought the shape of the blimp looked like a white whale and it was moving with gentle nose dive like motions.  While watching the blimp moving against the blue sky, I had a sudden feeling that I was really in the ocean watching the belly of a whale swimming above me!

The pilot seemed to steer to the right then gently left and continued this pattern as it flew into the distance.  I cannot recall the last time I saw a blimp and I have never seen one so close or heard the sound of one.

While searching online for information on blimps, I saw this site.  I would be interested to know of the blimp's mission.

I spotted a DirecTV blimp over Oak Pointe Elementary School in Irmo (near Columbia).  It was headed from Talladega, Alabama, to Darlington, South Carolina, to cover the NASCAR events there for the weekend on Fox.

It was traveling east very low -- around 1,000 feet.  The kids on the playground were getting a kick out of waving at it.  Was traveling slow --  maybe 20-25 mph.  Seemed to be doing some porpoising -- up and down.

It was traveling at around 1,500 feet.  The airship wasn't doing more than 35 mph.

A DirecTV blimp flew past our house on Monday January 16th, 2012 at 12:30 pm. The blimp traveled from the north heading south basically following the Highway I-95 expressway. No special maneuvering going on, just flying south. I am guessing it could have been heading to what I call the "Blimp Garage" which is a large airport hanger building on the east side of I-95, around Pompano Beach. We have seen a blimp "pulling in" to the garage on a previous road trip. I am not sure of the altitude, but I could clearly hear the engine.

We spotted a Goodyear blimp flying over the Railroad Avenue baseball fields. It was heading east in the direction of Solberg Airport.

While Goodyear blimps are rare around here, the Horizon Blue
Cross blimp (smaller than most) is a frequent flyer.  Most recently
it was spotted at the Solberg Airport on June 18 at 4:40 p.m.  It
was not flying at that time because of the summer solstice celebration
that was ongoing.  Planes, helicopters and hot air balloons filled the
skies.

My 8 year old loves to see the blimps and it helps that most use our
little airport. Thank you for doing this.

DirecTV blimp flew in a northwesterly direction directly over my back yard. Thought the neighbor got a new lawnmower; not loud the wind must have blown the sound in the other direction. Not good with measurements but I put it at a height of twice as high as a normal full grown tree (oak or walnut). Went for my camera....too late....it was past our tree line.
No races at Pocono till the 500 on June 10-12, so possibly it was just promoting DirecTV.

An unmarked, large white blimp slowly passed over residential areas. The altitude varied. It appeared to descend from maybe 5,000 feet to perhaps as low as 1,500 feet. The direction of travel seem to be north to northwest. The passenger gondola was fairly large. The windows on the gondola could be seen, but it was too high to see any occupants. The engines were audible and not as loud as another prop-driven aircraft passing at a higher altitude nearby.

While driving west from Staunton, Virginia, on US Highway 254, I noticed what I first thought was a cloud in the sky; but its shape seemed more defined than a cloud.  As I neared the object, it appeared to be a very large white blimp-like craft, moving quite slowly over the countryside east of North Mountain.  It was in my vision for several minutes until I lost sight due to the terrain.  Inquiries to the Augusta County Sheriff's Office, the local airport, and at a nearby store were of no help in either corroborating the sighting or revealing the craft's origin.

MetLife blimp Snoopy 2, I believe, was hanging out over Marianna yesterday, I believe, trying to avoid the bad weather we had going through. It was a very windy spring afternoon.

Strangely, the web site showed them as being near Orlando on the way to South Carolina for a gold tournament. How they came way up here in the panhandle of Florida, I would like to know, but it sure was fun watching them. They eventually came over my back yard, where I had a screaming fit waving at them.

I have loved blimps since they  used to fly in here to our Graham Air Force Base back in the 'fifties. The Goodyear  blimps used to stop off here also, as we still have a great airport site for them to land. Glad I found this site.

Hi, everyone. I just stumbled upon your site and thought I would answer a at least one question that I noticed on this site. I was ground crew for several of the airships mentioned on this page including Met Life (Snoopy 1), Sanyo. I don't think I noticed Bell, but it was in western Canada during the summers of 2005 and 2006. There are only two ways to get the flight logs --  either from the occurrence log that is filled out on the hour every hour by whoever is on watch  (there is someone with the ship at all times -- we used to pull 8-hour shifts) or the maintenance log kept by the mechanics to log flight hours between scheduled maintenance. The blimps you guys see are only for advertising and filming events. They're not up to an kind of secret stuff like a saw a few people hint at. It's just for fun.

While keeping a wary eye on this blue beast in the sky, I noticed the front of it pitch up and then back down. I thought, at first, it may be getting ready to do an attack dive on Hershey Park. Instead, it leveled back off and continued on its original heading. I lost sight of it after approximately 20 minutes.

It then started to head back up into the air and continued in an easterly course. I believe it is here because it is race weekend at Pocono Raceway. I do not know the altitude. I took pictures.

A Horizon Blue blimp, came upriver toward Red Bank, made turn, and returned toward beach area, (Sandy Hook-Atlantic Ocean). I'm about 3/4 of a mile from the river, couldn't quite make out the markings on the blimp with the naked eye, but my camera got a darn nice picture of it. I couldn't even guess the Blimp's altitude, the only other "flyer" in the air at the time, was an old "piston-plane" pulling an ad banner.

It's back! Just as fast the blimp disappeared, it has reappeared. It's still circling. It may possibly have a slow leak in it and is going to crash, but that may take days at this rate. You know, like a balloon when you let go of it after blowing it up and not tying it. Only this is in very slow motion! I think the reason I thought the blimp left, is that once in awhile it does a figure 8 and disappears over the roof of this building. Now, four hours later, it's still circling.

It appeared to be about 2,500 feet high -- not sure what direction it was traveling. I think this time it may have been coming from the All-Star NASCAR race in Charlotte, North Carolina, this past weekend or the air show that was in Lumberton, North Carolina. I watched it for 10 minutes, and it drifted right over me. It was close enough for me to read all the letters, and to hear the whir of the motor. When it disappeared from view, it was very close to the Super Wal-Mart in Newnan. Where it went from there, I have no clue.

I could hear a loud noise for a while and thought someone in town was running equipment. It started getting louder and by golly, I looked up and it was over Dogwood Road. I did get a photo of just the tail end of it over a house. It was so low. By the time my jaw got off of my chest, I dug through my purse and took my camera out, I was lucky I caught the tail of it.

Why would it be in Chicora? Possibly going over the Butler, Pennsylvania, farm show. A possibility.

I'm terrible at estimation (of anything) but the Hood Blimp was flying, not very much higher than the tallest treetops in my backyard. It flew directly over my pool in a northeast direction. It appeared as if it might be traveling from Rhode Island (LPGA tournament?) back to its base in eastern Massachusetts. I also understand it will be at the July 4th Esplanade concert, so it may have been heading in that direction, too.

Spotted and took many photos of the MetLife blimp moored at New Castle Airport in Delaware. Great pix of Snoopy as pilot on each side along with the MetLife logos. Hour or so later I photographed it in the distance, as the winds quieted a bit and the airship departed for its next assignment: the US Open Golf Tournament on June 15, I think. A nice surprise to see it. I was in a Goodyear blimp while moored several years ago and wrote and photographed a feature for local Gannet newspapers. Wish I could have visited the MetLife blimp too.

Yesterday, a blimp flew incredibly slowly and low over my neighborhood. At first, I couldn't see it because of the trees, and didn't realize what it was (a lot of planes and helicopters buzz my house). When I did (as it passed over my yard, flying VERY low), I ran in for a camera. Then, the blimp suddenly picked up speed and altitude and had almost disappeared in the distance by the time I got back outside. I think the direction it was basically flying was east, maybe southeast. I also saw the Goodyear blimp on either May 14 or May 21, maybe around 11 a.m. or noon, flying very low over the Food Lion (so low, I could see the mooring lines). It disappeared, as well, when I went for the camera, and I tried unsuccessfully to locate it.

I was in my back yard, heard a weird noise, and there was the Fuji blimp -- about 1,000 to 1,400 feet off the ground. We have multiple overflights by white, unmarked airplanes usually Cessnas, but now dual engine props too. At night, our city sounds like Iraq and has since about July with all the planes and helicopters. I feel like the blimp heading into the city from the Fort area was on another fabulous homeland security mission. I saw the Goodyear blimp same area about a year ago. I frequently see very low noiseless airplanes flying over the treetops at night in this same area. No one will fess up as to what is wrong but if or when South Carolina blows. You heard it here first, 'cause I never miss an opportunity to tell, tell, tell.

My two sons and I were in the car, and it was dark. We saw a fully lighted, blinking object that was the shape of a blimp traveling north. It appeared to be moving the speed of a blimp; and with its shape, this is what we assumed it to be. Others stopped their cars to watch as well. However, I have gone on the internet and have found no information on lighted blimps except for UFO speculations. I am very curious to know what it is we saw. We watched for approx 10 minutes before it went behind the tree line.

No rules, eh? It was the Outback Blimp, heading to the southwest...I'd guess it was going to EDS Byron Golf open from the one in Charlotte, NC, that I spotted taking on the characteristics of a nose-to-tail rocking chair. I was driving back work while eating a Wendy's spicy chicken Finger (oops, I mean fillet) sandwich, watching busy high school traffic and checking the time, hoping I wasn't late relieving the receptionist. The blimp was approx 1,000 feet up...difficult to measure from the ground, and it was a breezy time of day, so...I do believe the pilot was fighting the cross currents and not drunk on our Southern hospitality!

Apparently traveling from or at least over the Lumberton Airport, the Ameriquest (red/white/blue) was heading south-southwest along the I-95 corridor around 500 feet. She was being buffeted by rather strong crosswinds, (10-15 knots) making her roll and yawl much like a boat on rough waters. I hope the crew all had their Dramamine for the trip today!

I don't know why it (the Goodyear Blimp) was here, but it spent a few hours surrounding my neighborhood. I even thought it was gonna land in the field behind my house. I went out side to let my dog out to the bathroom. I looked up to the southwest of my house, and there it was. It took me by surprise, as if it was not real. It was no more than 200 feet off the roof of the houses when it spun around to the north while dropping it's nose and losing altitude. It seemed as if it was about to land in the field behind my house, but I then lost sight of it behind the trees.

It was flying really fast down the bay toward the ocean. I think it was the same one that I saw a few days ago at the Wendy's in Mansfield. It looks like something from that new Team America movie. Maybe it's on it's way to Iraq, but I can't think of what it could possibly do there.

A big American one flew over the Wendy's restaurant while I was waiting in the "drive-through" line. It made a whole lot of noise and scared the kids. I think it was getting ready to land. We went out to the airport later to look at it. My daughter thought the the pilot was "real cute," but said that the co-pilot was a "doink."

It was white blimp that was attached to a long pole. It didn't go anywhere. It just sat there all day long. I suspect that the pilot didn't want to fly it because it was really windy.

The blimp passed over the house at such a low altitude that binoculars were not needed to identify it as the Ameriquest blimp. It headed north. Did it land at Grove City Airport? I would love to read where it had come from and where it was going in future blimp spotters reports.

I was working in the yard when I heard a noise that I was not sure what it was. At the time, the airship was behind a tree from my position. When I was able to see it, it was the airship Outback . I immediately went into the house and got my digital camera and took a picture of the airship. I would guess the airship was approximately 4,000 or 5,000 feet altitude. It was low enough that I could see the people in the cabin or gondola, or whatever it is called. It was traveling in a west-soutwest direction I would guess. A lovely sight in the air as it floats along. Wish it were possible to ride on one of these type airships one time. Also love to eat at the Outback Steak House in the Greenville, SC area.

It was a Goodyear, heading southwest, could be from Farmingdale/Massapequa to Longbeach. It was pretty low to the ground, looks like either it just took off, or still heavy as result of lunch at Luger's.

Contacted fellow spotter AC to keep an eye open and to provide additional report.

Over and out.

I was doing lab work on my Meleagris gallopavo project, and while looking up with my mouth open in the rain to settle once and for all whether turkeys really do drown that way (and time the event) I saw a rather small blimp as it appeared perched atop what was unmistakably one our frequent UFOs here on the strip.

Thank god I had just replaced the batteries in the windshield-wipers on my glasses, or I would have missed the whole thing!

The piggy-backed blimp and it's host seemed to be doing about 1500 mph, and on my side of the thing it looked as though it were billowing inward causing a shifting, misshapen appearance. I am surmising that the blimp was not designed for such speeds, and was therefore probably being held involuntarily.

Across the street, someone duplicating my work seemed oblivious to the event as he gazed upward in the opposite direction. Efforts to get his attention were too late and my shouting was drowned out by the torrent.

Needless to say, my my project was interrupted. I shall wait for more rain.

Well, I saw a lot of blimps, but I am not sure I know if I counted them all. What I need to know is, dimpled blimps, do they count? If a dimpled blimp becomes pregnant while I am observing it, what about that? And hanging blimps, they may not actually be airborne anymore, but they should count too, on my personal blimp sightings record. That's all I am saying. Every blimp should count.

I was at Mansfield Airport eating at the airport's Restaurant. The blimp was swaying in the wind on the mooring mast on the ground, which is approximately 124 feet above sea level.
